What is within reach of Cofresí
Cofresí is small and mostly residential once you step off the resort strip. Most of what there is to do sits either on its own beach or a short way back towards Puerto Plata.
Ocean World Adventure Park
The reason most people have heard of Cofresí: a marine park on the beachfront with dolphin, sea lion and shark encounters, a bird sanctuary and a rainforest walk. It is the standard family day out on this coast, and it is right here rather than an excursion away.
Playa Cofresí
A small cove with the resorts behind it and a handful of beach bars on the sand. Not the biggest beach on the coast, but sheltered, easy to swim from and about thirty seconds from wherever you are staying.
Costambar
The residential neighbour: villas, condos and a long, shallow, very calm beach that fills with Dominican families at weekends. Quieter than Cofresí and a favourite with long-stay visitors and snowbirds.
Puerto Plata & the cable car

The other resort cluster on this bay, on the far side of Puerto Plata, with a golf course in the middle of it. Worth knowing about mainly so you do not confuse the two when you book a hotel.

Limestone pools you climb up and then jump and slide back down, inland from this stretch of coast. The single most requested excursion from any of the resorts here.
